• .sub()

pattern(r"......") is a raw string, which means that backslashes are not interpreted as escape characters. eg: “\\section” in regular str, “\section” in raw str.

• .findall(pattern, string)

matches = re.findall(pattern, string)
print(matches)

Output:

['The', 'fox', 'dog']

• extract()
• extractall()
